7 missing in Russian bulk carrier wreck in Black Sea
ROSTOV-ON-DON, Apr 19 (PRIME) – Seven people gone missing and five were saved in a shipwreck of Russian bulk carrier Geroi Arsenala carrying grain to Turkey, the local emergency services said on Wednesday.
“A specialized rescue boat Spasatel Demidov has arrived to the place of the shipwreck, it did rescue works on the place of the wreck. Aviation efforts by the Southern Regional Center of the Emergency Ministry have been planned. The use of aviation will be made depending on the weather,” Nikita Gavrilyak, spokesman for the Emergency Ministry’s branch in the Krasnodar Region, said.
The Emergency Ministry’s office in Crimea in the Black Sea said that the customs had received a SOS signal from Geroi Arsenala flying the flag of Panama at about 4 a.m. Moscow time; 12 people were on board, according to preliminary data.
